S2 Options Information Evening
FAO All parent/carer partners of young people in S2
A gentle reminder of our S2 Options Information Evening this Monday evening from 7pm until 8pm. The event aims to provide some useful guidance and advice regarding this first experience of curricular personalisation and choice for our learners in S2. We look forward to offering you all a very warm welcome.

Parent Portal App
Good Morning,
We have attached a letter in regards to the Parent Portal that has been launched by South Lanarkshire Council. This was circulated previously however we just want to ask if you haven't already downloaded and signed up to the new Parent Portal App could you please do so. As a school moving forward we will be using this app as the one of the main ways of communication to get information to parents/carers.

Resources for Exam Preparation
We have secured a 6 month free trial of ACHIEVE - a package that supports the learning and teaching of students preparing for SQA exams.
Pupils and staff can access the resources via

I would also like to remind all pupils that SCHOLAR is an excellent resource for many subjects for exam preparation. All students have SCHOLAR passwords and logins.

Safe Walking Routes and Qualifying Distance – Yes/No list
A list of previously assessed safe walking routes, and a list of addresses which would /would not qualify for distance under this proposal is now available to view at Secondary school transport - consultation - South Lanarkshire Council
This list will continue to be added to for more recent assessments.

School Appointment Procedure
A reminder of the school appointment procedure:
If your child has an appointment to attend during the school day please call the office in advance to make us aware or email the office gw18holycrossoffice@glow.sch.uk
If your child is under the age of 16 they must be collected from the school office for their appointment and signed out.
If your child is over the age of 16 and you are happy for them to leave school and make their own way to their appointment please confirm this when phoning or emailing the school.
These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of your child.

S2 Options Information Evening
FAO All Parents/Carers of young people in S2.
A reminder that our S2 Options Information Evening will take place on Monday 5th February from 7pm - 8pm. The event aims to offer our parent/carer partners relevant guidance and advice in supporting their young people to make the right choices in the forthcoming options process. All learners in S2 will have the opportunity to personalise their curriculum by choosing subjects to study in greater depth in S3. The event on Monday 5th February intends to support both parents/carers and learners to get the most out of the options process.
We look forward to welcoming you all to this event, sharing some supportive information and answering any questions you may have.

S1 Lockerbie Manor Trip
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the S1 Lockerbie Manor Trip that is scheduled to depart today.
This is due to recent bad weather conditions impacting on the facilities that we would be using.
We will be looking to reschedule the trip later in this term - with details provided ASAP.
We understand the inconvenience caused and will provide an update later today.
S$/5 Information Evening - Cancelled
Due to adverse weather conditions tonight's S4/5 Information Evening will not go ahead in the school. Mrs Rea, Mrs Millar and Mrs Duffy will record their presentation and post it onto S4/5 Google Classrooms.
We hope to have this recorded and posted for the 7pm scheduled time. Parents and carers can then contact Mrs Rea, Mrs Millar and Mrs Duffy with any queries and their will be follow up year group assemblies.

S2 Careers Event
On Thursday 11th January, during periods 1 to 4, all S2 pupils will be participating in a Careers Event. This is an exciting opportunity with a number of contributors from a variety of industries. S2 pupils will participate in a range of workshops which explore different careers. This is a valuable experience for pupils in the lead up to picking their subject choices.
